PMA of South Bend Presents -
The Ten Principles of Operations Management

Date: Tuesday, November 13, 2007
Joint Meeting with APICS

Randall Schaefer, CPIM

High wages and benefits are not the only reason manufacturing struggles in the US. We have seen a variety of tools, techniques, and siloed process focus that have been looked at as being THE solution for success at various times over the past decades. In their attempts to offset the advantages of foreign competitors, US companies often make things worse by violating or ignoring one or more of the 10 principles of operations management. And other companies fail because they never embraced these principles in the first place.

This presentation was developed from a well received co-authored article published in the May 2007 issue of APICS magazine and is/was scheduled for presentation at the October 2007 APICS International Conference in Denver, CO.
